The House of Representatives (HoR) session on Wednesday approved the Privatization Ordinance (First Amendment), 2081 with a decisive majority.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel presented the proposal for the HoR’s endorsement.
During the session, the Finance Minister remarked that the ordinance provides various options for public enterprise investments, emphasizing that privatization is not the sole pathway.
Paudel conveyed that the ordinance was introduced through established protocols.
Furthermore, the HoR meeting dismissed a proposal brought forth by lawmaker Madhav Sapkota opposing the ordinance. Lawmakers Urmila Majhi, Suryaman Dong, Metmani Chaudhary, Sumana Shrestha, and several others supported Sapkota’s motion.
