Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project Halts Electricity Generation Due to Flood Damage

Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Company has notified that power generation from its 111 MW Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project has been temporarily interrupted due to extensive destruction caused by a colossal flood in the Bhotekoshi River.

The flood transpired on Ashadh 24, 2082, and has caused considerable damage to essential infrastructures, including the dam site, living quarters, and the access route linking the quarters to the powerhouse. The company indicated that these damages stem from an uncontrollable natural occurrence.

The project, situated on the border of wards 1 and 2 of Gosainkunda Rural Municipality in Rasuwa district, commenced commercial power generation on Poush 16, 2081. The company has appealed for understanding as operations are halted until further notice due to this unforeseen circumstance.
