The inaugural commercial charter flight is set to commence operations on the Pokhara-Chengdu (China) route starting March 18, aiming to establish regular international flights at Pokhara Regional International Airport in Kaski.
For the past two years, regular international flight operations from this airport have not been feasible since its inauguration.
As per Taranath Pahari, the Chair of the Pokhara Tourism Council, the first commercial charter flight is planned for March 18 to Chengdu. Efforts towards this initiative have reportedly been made by the private sector.
Collaboration has taken place among China Travels International, Chengdu, the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, and Sichuan Airlines, alongside support from the Pokhara Tourism Council.
Additionally, the Council has garnered assistance from the Chinese Overseas Association based in Nepal. This initiative is anticipated to catalyze a surge in tourism within the Province.
They aim to welcome approximately 1,250 tourists from Sichuan province in China to the airport over the next three months.
