The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has revealed a substantial rise in the rates of petroleum products, effective from midnight, April 09, 2026 (Chaitra 26, 2082 BS).
The government-owned enterprise has elevated the costs of petrol, diesel, and kerosene by Rs 15 per liter. Moreover, the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for culinary use has surged by Rs 100 per cylinder, while Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) has experienced an increase of Rs 6 per liter.
| Category | Locations | Petrol (New Price) | Diesel/Kerosene (New Price) |
| First Category | Charali, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Amlekhgunj, Bhalbari, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, Birgunj | Rs 216.50 | Rs 204.50 |
| Second Category | Surkhet, Dang | Rs 218.00 | Rs 206.00 |
| Third Category | Kathmandu, Pokhara, Dipayal | Rs 219.00 | Rs 207.00 |
Justification for Increase
The NOC pointed to the persistent conflict in West Asia as the main reason for this adjustment, highlighting that the unrest has led to a continual escalation in global oil prices. Even with the utilization of the Price Stabilization Fund to mitigate the effects, the corporation anticipated an astonishing loss of Rs 7.81 billion over the next 15 days without this price amendment.
