Govt announces two-day weekly holiday

The Government of Nepal has opted to establish a biweekly public holiday. A Cabinet meeting convened on Sunday sanctioned the provision for holidays on both Saturday and Sunday.

As per the resolution, the updated system will be executed in government offices and educational institutions. Previously, Nepal had only recognized a single weekly public holiday.

Government representative Sasmit Pokharel mentioned that this initiative was prompted by disruptions in the oil supply.
