The authorities have enacted a new regulation mandating that any enterprise, organization, or institution intending to engage in real estate deals valued above Rs. 3 crore must first acquire an official permit.
Consequently, the Department of Land Management and Archive, operating under the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation, released a public announcement on Thursday inviting requests for the real estate transaction permit.
According to the notice published in the Nepal Gazette on Asoj 27, urban and semi-urban areas have been designated as the specific zones for enforcement. Companies or institutions planning to execute property transactions surpassing the specified amount are required to submit their online requests within 30 days.
Applicants must complete the application on the department’s website and attach the required documents as outlined in Schedule 8 of the Land Revenue Regulations, 2036 (Eighth Amendment 2082). The department stated that this measure seeks to improve transparency and bolster oversight in substantial real estate transactions.
