The government has reversed its earlier stance regarding the selection of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) and has designated Chudamani Chapagain as the new CEO. This decision was made during a recent Cabinet meeting, nullifying the previous choice of Narad Kumar Luintel before it was officially confirmed.
Chapagain, a resident of Damak, Jhapa, boasts a wealth of experience in banking and education, having been associated with Sanima Bank and Sunrise Bank. With over 25 years of expertise, he is also acknowledged for his proficiency in financial management and information technology. Although he was initially slated to join the Board of Directors for Nepal Bank, he will now assume the leadership position at NEPSE.
The selection procedure for NEPSE’s CEO shortlisted five candidates, including Chapagain, Narad Kumar Luintel, Purna Prasad Acharya, Badri Prasad Pyakurel, and Hemanta Basyal. With Chapagain’s appointment, NEPSE is anticipated to concentrate on technological progress and market reforms.
