Today, the nation will welcome a new Prime Minister. Ram Chandra Poudel has officially appointed Balendra Shah as Prime Minister in accordance with Article 76(1) of the Constitution, recognizing him as the head of the predominant party in the House of Representatives. This is the inaugural occasion of a Prime Minister being designated through this clause since the Constitution’s enactment in 2072 BS.
The swearing-in ceremony is set to be conducted by President Poudel this afternoon at Sheetal Niwas, precisely at 12:34 pm. As per the Office of the President, the event will include customary traditions, featuring the resounding of seven conch shells, Swasti Shanti prayers chanted by 108 batuks, and Ashtamangal recitations by 16 Buddhist monks.
Following the appointment, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) leadership, in coordination with Prime Minister Shah and Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, has finalized a diverse and expert led ministerial team.
